Monday 5 September, London, UK: Azimo, the world’s largest digital money transfer network, is celebrating Eid by offering all its customers a free money transfer.

Azimo has a growing UK Muslim customer base who send money home for Eid al Adha. Also known as the ‘Sacrifice Feast’, the festival centres around the tradition of sharing the meat from a sacrificed animal – the offering is divided into three and split between family, friends, and the poor and needy.

But it’s not just meat that is shared out during the Eid festival. Data from Azimo shows that migrants also send around 20% of their monthly wages home at this time, with some sending up to a third.

On top of this, Azimo discovered that in the run up to the holy Muslim festival there’s a 35% increase in money transactions between the UK to Bangladesh & Pakistan.

To celebrate the Eid, Azimo is offering a free transfer to everyone who uses the code EID before 17th September 2016.

“Last year we saw transfer numbers increase significantly ahead of Eid, so we know a large portion of our customers are sending money to family and friends around this festival, especially to Bangladesh and Pakistan,” said Michael Kent, CEO and Co-Founder, Azimo. “We have chosen to offer free transfers ahead of Eid to show our support in the true spirit of the festival, and give something back to the community of one of our largest and growing customer bases. We offer a wide range of collection options for recipients, including cash pick up, mobile top up and bank accounts, helping to make sending money home as easy and enjoyable as possible in this special period.”

The Azimo digital money transfer service enables users to send money quickly, easily and securely. Azimo recent launched Facebook Messenger functionality on the app, connecting senders and recipients through their Facebook friend list in an industry first to make money transfers even simpler. Currently available on Azimo’s iOS and Android App, the new feature also supports all 10 languages found on the platform.
