For most, the holiday season is full of cheer and means being together with friends and family. For migrants, however, not being able to get back home for the festive season is a story that is all too familiar.
All year round, overseas migrants send money back home to support their families and loved ones. A significant amount of their salaries are dedicated to helping – for many people, trying to save money to go back home is simply impossible.
It’s more important to provide support throughout the year than spend so much money on flights.
Migrants spend an average of 6.5 years away from their home country. For some, it can reach even decades. As they can’t see their close relatives and loved ones for the holidays, nearly half of all migrants choose to send money home instead.
Azimo teamed up with Censuswide* to find out more about the reality of holidays for overseas migrants.
As a company built by migrants for migrants, we understand the importance of being together for the holidays. We also understand that it’s not always possible, which is why we offer brilliant rates and super-low fees to be able to help migrants send more money back home for less, in time for the holiday season.
The research was conducted by Censuswide with 300 migrant workers in the UK aged 18+ between 23.11.17 and 30.11.17. The survey was conducted from a random sample. Censuswide abide by and employ the members of the Market Research Society which is based on the ESOMAR principles.
