We’re hugely excited to announce that we’ve been nominated as one of the 26 new companies to join Tech City UK’s Future Fifty programme, which showcases and supports 50 of the country’s fastest-growing late-stage tech companies. The full list of amazing nominees can be found here.

The judging panel, which was made up of advisors from global giants such as ASOS, Deloitte, KPMG and Accel, believe that Azimo possesses a “unique opportunity to scale and become a powerhouse in the worldwide tech economy”.

A total of 77 companies have been through the Future Fifty programme since 2014 and the success stats are impressive:

  • Five IPOs on the London Stock Exchange, raising $1.5bn
  • 17 M&As, including SwiftKey (Microsoft), Housetrip (TripAdvisor), One Fine Stay (Accor Group) and Skyscanner (Ctrip)
  • Over $3.8bn raised in funding, including more than $1.5bn in 2016
  • 27,000 jobs created around the world
  • A string of household names, including Zoopla and Just Eat

Gerard Grech, Tech City UK CEO, said: “From FinTech to online shopping, telematics to EdTech, the Future Fifty portfolio offers a glimpse into the UK’s digital future. Britain remains one of the best places in the world to start a tech business and we’ll make sure it remains so. These companies have global ambitions, and with the support of the tech community we’ll do everything we can to help them so that they can create jobs and opportunities across the UK – as their successful predecessors have done.”

Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, added: “The UK has a world-renowned tech and digital sector and the value of the Future Fifty programme has been to support the fastest-growing, most pioneering companies in their final push to build mainstream businesses. The fact that so many Future Fifty companies are now household names is testimony that it works.

“The innovation that we are seeing in all of these young firms is key to the Government’s Modern Industrial Strategy. We recognise that through tech and the digitisation of many aspects of UK business, we can create new opportunities across the city to expand our economy and make it more productive. The companies that join Future Fifty today will be the established businesses and employers of tomorrow.”
